I really enjoy it |
Awsome:Thank You
Ed J. |
I really agree with Bilbo about the intensity of the performance. I love the jugband/psychedelic mix.
It must have been a white knuckle ride to have been there.

A gem here is "Mountains of the Moon." What to call this song? Psychedelic baroque parlor room music? It certainly occupies a special place in the Dead's discography. It's a delicate little wonder. Thanks for posting the show. |
So here I am waiting with high anticipation for tomorrow to arrive. You see... tomorrow my daughter, Logan Isabel, will arrive into our world and birng with her all the joy that a proud father could expect. My nerves are "off the charts" right now, so I turned to some "Dark Star" to soothe my soul. Thank you Bilbo for helping me find my senses with this beautiful rendition of "Dark Star". My wife and I agreed on having one of the April '73 versions played during her labor. Here's to Baby Logan! May she have the most "Grateful Life" anyone could ask for! Martin |
Hey, Jerry... refrain ! What an unexpected delight! |
You can really hear the intensity as they pursued this giant leap from their string band roots..the string band influence is still there in the vocal harmonies, but the instrumentation is psychedelic jazz - they didn't invent jam bands (see Fletcher Henderson c.1928)but they sure developed the genre in some interesting new directions. Good fuel, I'd guess... |
What a fabulous set, it has a perfect flow from beginning to end. Hey Jude is great, nobody could/can make a song thier own quite like the Dead. |
This particular recording is from a bootleg CD. The signal has been run through a filter to give it a flanged sound and the pitch is too high, but for several years this was the best recording available. Nice to hear it again! Maybe the best "The Other One" ever. Certainly the most intense. |
Hey Jude at the end is a treat. |
yay! the eleven!!!!!!!!
haven't heard it nearly enough...
great job, Bilbo
one of my faves, as are the other 125+ of GD repertoire, hah! |
